Courtney Curatolo

Center Director

In November 2018, Courtney Curatolo, Ph.D. became the Director of the SBDC with a commitment to maximizing the small business climate in the three county region including Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany Counties.  Curatolo’s background includes experience in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors building skills in strategic planning, marketing, leadership training, government affairs, public relations, community outreach, and development and implementation of public -private partnerships.  She is a published author on the topics of leadership development, civic engagement, and effective facilitation and sustainability of public - private partnerships.  She holds a B.A. in Political Science, a M.A. in Public Administration, and a Ph.D. in Adult and Community Educational Leadership.

Danny Hickman

Business Advisor

Dan Hickman joined the Small Business Development Center in 2016. He has a Bachelor Degree in Organizational Management with a minor in Marketing. 

Dan brings great enthusiasm to the table when working with his clients. He specializes in helping develop financial projections and aiding his clients in finding sources of funding for their ventures. He is excited to help you create an effective marketing plan and looks forward to seeing your business succeed.

Scott Miller

Business Advisor

Scott has been with the SBDC for over 10 years.   He is happy doing client research, developing business plans and goals along with an affinity for social media.  Scott is a certified Business Advisor and constantly strives to cultivate his business knowledge.   Scott is involved with many community initiatives for business and social development with a focus on social media internships.  Scott is highly knowledgeable on state and federal resource programs, business licenses and permits, business start-ups, and financial projections.   When not at work Scott maintains an active lifestyle of skiing, cycling, and outdoor activities.

Natalie Peterson


Our goal at the Small Business Development Center is to help small business owners: “One business at a time.”

Natalie's role is to provide administrative support for the director and our staff of Business Advisors.  She has many duties in addition to handling client intake, database management, and financial reporting.  Natalie is the permit specialist for the Chautauqua County Business Permit Center and was a Navigator for the NY State of Health Insurance Marketplace. Her education includes a Certificate Degree in Office Technology and NY State of Health Navigator Certification.

Natalie has acquired a wide range of knowledge and experiences in the 25+ years she has been with Jamestown Community College.

Beth Reed

Senior Business Advisor

A colleague in the MBA program at Penn State recruited Beth to the SBDC. Hundreds of business plans later, Beth is now the Senior Business Advisor of the group. In addition to an MBA, she holds an advanced certification from the New York State Small Business Development Center. She has experience in all sectors and enjoys working with a wide variety of businesses. She has a particular connection to the agriculture industry and began her career as a purchasing professional with a manufacturing division of a Fortune 500 company.

Brian Rovegno

Business Advisor

Brian Rovegno is the newest member of the team at the Small Business Development Center, having joined in Fall of 2019. Originally from Erie, PA, Brian and his family recently relocated to the area after 18 years in Colorado. He worked there as a Program Manager for Starz Entertainment, specifically spearheading The Westerns Channel, among other networks, building it into one of the most watched Pay-TV services in the U.S. He is most looking forward to working with clients and helping local businesses grow, and has an extensive background in marketing and social media development. Brian has a BA in Journalism/Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University and an MA in Film/Cinema Studies from the University of Nottingham in the UK. He spends the rest of his time as the proud father of Charlie and Noam, and exploring the myriad recreational, cultural, and outdoor attractions that Chautauqua County has to offer.
